Oscar Niemeyer Museum

MON, as it´s known, is one of the largest museums in Latin América. Its collection houses over 2.200 works of nationwide and worldwide renowned artists.

Designed by architect Oscar Niemeyer, its 35.000 m2 structure outstands amid the 144.000 m2 green area. The complex is formed by the main building , designed in 1967, and the new addition, conceived in 2001 and inspired by araucaria, a large tree symbol of Paraná. The elliptic shape and glass walls of this new building have given MON the endearling and popular “Museu do Olho” (The Eye Museum) nickname.
